Koda crossed the rainbow bridge not too long ago, a heartbreak we truly understand. You never know when the time is right, it just happens, another pup comes along, and fills your heart with joy once again.  Doing In Memory blankets mean so much to us, they are very special, and to share Maggie’s spirit with Koda’s in a blanket for Raiin, it touched our hearts.  Raiin was adopted just a week ago, and we were asked by their friend to do a double-sided quilt for their new little one, one side for Koda and other for Raiin. The blanket was delivered yesterday, and we hear that Raiin loves it!

FOR RYZA & CHLOE

While at the Pet Lover Show we donated a custom May May Blanket to PADS (Pacific Assistance Dogs Society) for their fundraiser draw.  The lucky winners were Ryza & Chloe. Choosing the colour combo is always fun, their Mom says “I’m not real fussy but the dogs are princesses”, so pinks and browns were the colour of choice, and we were delighted to deliver the blanket yesterday!

Theirs is a very special story and it was truly an honour to create a Maggie May blanket for Chloe and in memory of Ryza. Ryza was a little Pekingese who was brought into the animal hospital where her Mom worked as a tech. She had been hit by a car, the owners were not found, and Ryza was sadly signed off by the SPCA to be euthanized. But, it was not to be, as her Mom fell instantly in love, she knew there was fight left in the little girl as she was only 2 or 3 at the time, and she officially adopted her.  3 surgeries later and tender loving care, she made a full recover and lived a very long happy life of 19 years! Chloe, a terrier mix, also adopted after being abandoned, came into their lives shortly before Ryza crossed the rainbow bridge, the two were inseparable and the very best of friends.

We’ve been told that Chloe loves it and “now has attitude over her royal blankie “, she’s not sharing with their other pup Haylie, it’s paws off ….. for now!

JIMMY UPDATE …. DOING AWESOME!

Happy news to report, Jimmy had his stitches out on Friday and is doing great! We  received a very heartfelt letter of thanks from Jimmy’s Dad and say’s they are getting ” back to their old two step again of hanging out side by side and laughing and playing together” …. how wonderful is that!

SALSA HIRES AN ASSISTANT ….. MEET MISS ROSIE!

Supervisors Jackie, Louie and Salsa are pleased to announce the addition of a new member to the team …. Miss Rosie.  It was felt that Princess Salsa had far too much on her plate and she needed some hired help.  We all know how hard the supervisors work in keeping the staff in line, they donate their time and work only for treats.

All kidding aside, it is a very special story indeed.  Salsa is actually Rosie’s Mom! When Sharon was approached to adopt Rosie, there was no hesitation, a moment of “am I crazy”, but that didn’t last long, she knew Rosie’s home was with her and Salsa (also adopted), and it’s now official. Salsa is teaching Rosie the ropes and who’s the boss in the house, but as like any child, Rosie is fighting back, ’cause she’s a big girl now!

Welcome to the Maggie May family Rosie …. and Louie now has 3 girlfriends!

FOR GRACIE …. OUR BIRTHDAY BLANKET CONTEST WINNER

Sweet little Gracie received her custom Maggie May Blanket yesterday and “she loves it” as her Mom told us she would!  Gracie was the winner of this years Birthday Blanket contest, she supposedly hand picked her brown/beige colour toned fabric herself (but we really think her Mom did).  Her Mom says Gracie always poses when the camera is on her, but when she first got her blanket she rolled and rubbed her face into it, then as she tossed her toy around the living room, she always returned to the blanket with her toy to play on it.

Now that’s a happy customer!!  Congratulations Gracie!

MEET JIMMY …. OUR NEWEST RECIPIENT FROM THE MAGGIE MAY FUND

Jimmy is a handsome 6 1/2 year old English Bulldog.  Jimmy has been in the family since a pup, and his Dad affectionately calls him his “amazing best friend” in life. They have been through some tough times together and would be lost without each other.

Jimmy has been living with persistent ear infections for the past while that has been resisting antibiotic treatment. The infection was making its way into the deep cavity of the ear canal, causing serious pain for Jimmy. It was starting to affect Jimmy neurologically, throwing off his balance and his equilibrium. Jimmy was not a happy boy, and without surgery he would have a very poor quality of life.

Jimmy required a delicate surgery, a Total Ear Canal Ablation and a Bulla Osteotomy, and as soon as possible. On March 4, Jimmy had his surgery, it took longer than normal, almost 3 hours, as they had to dig deeper into the canal. The surgery went well, and Jimmy was home later that evening. By the next day, Jimmy was up, eating, and enjoying some serious nap time in the sun. He has had his first re-check and all is looking good …. stitches out in 14 days.

Jimmy’s surgery was a joint effort between “In Memory of Maggie May” and the “BCSPCA Vancouver Hospital” …. working together to get Jimmy back to a normal, healthy & happy life!

Jimmy’s Dad is very appreciative of the help he was given, and promises us future happy stories.

MEET LUCKY – OUR NEWEST RECIPIENT FROM THE MAGGIE MAY FUND

LUCKY – FEBRUARY 2016

Lucky is a 10 year old Yorkshire Terrier. He was adopted last summer, he is not only a loving companion, but works wonders for his special needs human brother. As like any other pet, Lucky is part of their family, like another child, and they needed our help. Lucky is a rambunctious, healthy happy pup, but unfortunately developed severe dental disease and needed surgery.  Lucky is now home and recovering nicely, on his way to a healthy life with lots of play.

We are so glad we were able to be there to help Lucky and also want to thank Scottsdale Veterinary Hospital in Surrey for the care they gave this sweet boy. They said “Lucky did great … he was a wonderful patient and recovered well from his procedure”.

Congratulations Gracie!

Needless to say, her Mom was ecstatic when she got the call and can hardly wait to pick the fabric for Gracie’s  custom blanket.  We are excited to get started and will share her creation soon.

Thanks to Alexa of Pet Food N More for doing the honours, and thank you all for sharing your fur kids with us in our the 3rd annual contest. Can’t wait til next year!
