Mittens is 9 years old and faced her first health issue. Mittens had a serious abscess that needed to be surgically mended and quickly. We all know how important our pets are in our lives, and Mittens to her Mom is no exception. She say’s her cats “are spoiled and loved with all my heart and soul”.  Mittens is home and doing well,  back to begging for treats and as her Mom says “they know treat by the spelling of it”.

We love happy endings and are grateful to have been able to help!

ELIJAH – LOVIN’ LIFE

ELijah (2A)

Elijah – May 2016

We received this beautiful update from his Mom that we would like to share.

“Elijah is doing amazingly well thanks to your amazing kindness!  Elijah is healthier than ever!   After his life saving dental surgery he was experiencing stomach issues.  I researched that this is actually common after dental work and all the antibiotics they give them.”

“I had to find a way to re-build all his healthy gut flora, and to learn even more about how to properly care for him. I now cook all his cat-food from scratch.  It’s very easy & quick actually, I just simmer some fresh turkey legs, let it cool, then shred it, and run it for a few seconds in my blender with a little bit of turkey broth.  I add enzyme powder, salmon oil, little bit of organic canned pumpkin and then freeze it in small size freezer bags.  I also give him probiotic in his food every day. He also LOVES eating fresh papaya . . . so I get that for him nearly 1x per week.   He’s doing a lot better!”

“Elijah and I are forever grateful to you Eva, to Dr. Maya & Dr. Alberto for saving his life.  As I may have mentioned, he’s my only family member here, and am grateful beyond words that he is in my life.  I don’t ever think of him as a child of mine . . . . but a true best friend.   I know he can’t live forever, and am grateful that we have this time now, and grateful we are friends.  He’s truly my teacher.”

“They say animals embody more integrity, purity and unconditional love – much more-so than humans.   My wish is that people more deeply appreciate these amazing graceful friends in our lives, and support them with the love & kindness and respect that they deserve.”

“Thank you again with all my heart”

SAYING GOODBYE TO BONES

!cid_24C43F09-26C7-48A9-9A42-BFF3291CBD54AWe have very sad news this morning, with heavy hearts, we say goodbye to Bones. Bones was a recent recipient from the Maggie May fund but sadly crossed the Rainbow Bridge due to unexpected complications. It was devastating news for his Dad, Bones was his Dad’s longtime companion, he was loved very much and will be missed dearly.

SAINTS 2016

20160501_114830a AGNES

Every year we look forward to visiting SAINTS Rescue, but it was even more special for us this year because of Agnes. Agnes is a permanent resident at SAINTS.  We met Agnes on last year’s visit, she touched our hearts so we decided to sponsor her care through the Maggie May Fund. It was great to see her and all the other animals. We are happy to report Agnes is doing great!!

If you get a chance, take a trip out to SAINTS, they have tours on weekends and it truly is a happy and loving place.

MEET BONES – OUR NEWEST RECIPIENT FROM THE MAGGIE MAY FUND

!cid_49974F46-1C9D-4034-86E6-B7A60F255DE1a

Pets are wondrous members of our family, and to some, their pets are their sole companions, their pets are their everything. Bones is 12, with a super sweet personality and means more to his owner than anything else in the world.

Bones was diagnosed with urinary obstruction, and required hospitalization, with a possibility of surgery. He was given fluids and pain medications and had gone home to heal, but relapsed and is back in hospital for a few days. They had to place him back on the urinary catheter, but his Dr. feels that the additional time of rest will be exactly what he needs, no surgery will be required!

We will share with you updates as soon as we can!

MEET TORRES – OUR NEWEST RECIPIENT FROM THE MAGGIE MAY FUND

IMAG0206 (2a)

Torres and Messi were twin tabby brothers, they have been a part of Ben’s life since they were 6 weeks old. Sadly, they lost little Messi to kidney cancer last May. Tragedy struck again, when last week, on one of their walks, Torres was spooked, ran across the street and was hit by a vehicle. “It was painful to see it happen right in front of my eyes” says Ben.  “My younger brother and I are devastated at the thought of losing both brothers a year apart” and are determined to save him.

Torres fractured his pelvis, but it was his lungs that took a greater impact.  The injury caused air to fill up that needed to be removed with tubes in both sides of his chest.  He needed to remain in hospital to allow his lungs to heal before they could do surgery.

We are happy to report that Torres is now home.  Ben says “he is groggy and wobbles around when he walks, but he is eating and drinking water, and purrs when we cuddle with him”. He is slowly improving, and the best news is that there is a low probability that he will need surgery, he will hopefully heal on his own. He has a long road to recovery ahead of him, and the next 8 weeks are crucial, no jumping around on the furniture!

Torres is only 8 years old, he is wonderfully friendly, and has a full life yet to live. With the help from close friends and “In Memory of Maggie May”, Torres will have that life!

We have been promised more photo’s and many happy updates!

THEY NEED YOUR HELP – please help us raise $5000 for the Maggie May Fund!

bigstock-Little-dog-and-cat-at-the-vete-41372266

We are receiving applications for funding on an ongoing basis, and we hope that we will never turn anyone away due to a lack of funds. Many of us can manage the financial burden when unexpected medical bills arise, but to those that have fallen on hard times, to those that are less fortunate, their pets mean just as much to them, as to you and I ….  but they need our help. We aren’t the biggest organization, but we are working hard at helping as many pets as we can. We can’t do what we do without you, please donate, order a blanket or a crate pad …. our goal is to raise $5000 to replenish the Maggie May fund.

Click HERE to donate or order, or email us at maggiemay99@telus.net.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
