SQUIRT – SPECIAL UPDATE FROM HER MOM

Here is the update we have all been waiting for. Squirty went for her last test to confirm that she is cancer free! Woo hoo!! She is doing great too! I took a pic of her at the park yesterday, she ran like she hasn’t in over 8 months! She is still getting tired quickly but she is so much happier.

I just want to thank everyone for all the help and well wishes. I had gone in to have Squirt put down and a wonderful woman named Pam came and offered to help fund her first tests to see what exactly was wrong. SCARS then helped pay for Squirts surgery. In Memory of Maggie May helped with her treatments and of course everyone who donated saved my girls life. Although I came up a bit short of my financial goal the positive outcome of Squirts condition is worth every penny I owe. I will be forever grateful and I will somehow and someway pay it forward.

The main message is with your help Squirt kicked cancers ass! Thank you all!

Meet Henry …. isn’t he sweet!  He was just recently rescued and is very happy in his new home.  We’ve been told Henry is very calm, quiet and quite the cuddle bug. Perfect timing for Henry to receive his Maggie May blanket!

TIPS FROM ROSIE’S MOM

Rosie was a little girl that had needed her teeth cleaned at the vets if not every year, then every second, despite having her Papa clean them each night before bed.  Rosie had medical issues that meant she could not safely “go under” to have them cleaned.  We asked our vet about Rosie switching to Earthpaste a brand of clay and salt toothpaste with essential oils that her Papa and I were using.  We got the go ahead and that was great as we had been so worried, I had done research on the “doggie paste” she was using and found 7 very nasty things in it, 4 being known cancer causing agents.

On Rosie’s next visit to the vet, our vet got such a surprise … the build-up of plaque was gone, her gums looked great and her teeth were so sparkly. They remain this way to this day 2 years later.

We are thrilled with Earthpaste and use the Spearmint one as it is the only one not containing Xylitol, amazing but toothpaste doesn’t need sugar and Xylitol is very controversial.  Basically we don’t really know if it is safe or not, so better not to even chance it. We also switched Rosie’s doggie shampoo for Weleda Calendula Baby Wash, it is gentle, organic, has no harmful ingredients and leaves her coat so shiny and soft without all the lathering agents and “fragrances”. Earthpaste and Weleda products can be found at Pomme (Poco), Wholefoods and Choices Markets to name a few.

Please read labels and not just for your fur baby, it is scary what is in personnel care products and make-up.

UPDATE !

updateIt was a packed full week! We delivered Maggie May blankets, caught up on administration, and got quite a bit of sewing done too. We made new friends, furry and human!  We have new followers of “In Memory of Maggie May”, and we thank them for sharing our posts, and our Facebook page.

Maggie’s Memorial fund is growing, by donations from our fantastic  supporters, by Dr. Maja contributing a portion of Healing  Paws wellness exams, and by our blanket, bandana and belly band sales. We want to remind everyone that if you know someone that needs financial help with their pets medical costs, please let them know about our fund.  We are here to help! We do have criteria and application forms, we have to follow a process as we need to be accountable to our supporters.  Please do not let our process deter you from applying, your pet is family and you do whatever you can. All applications are reviewed and approved jointly with our medical expert, Dr. Maja of Healing Paws.

OUR TRATIDION CONTINUES …. the 2015 ANNIVERSARY QUILT cut off is April 30th.  All pets that received/ordered Maggie May blankets from May 1, 2014 to April 30, 2015 will in someway be incorporated in this year’s anniversary quilt.

FOR MOLLY AND SHADOW …. MAGGIE’S BIRTHDAY BLANKET WINNERS

We had the pleasure of delivering the winners their Maggie May blankets this afternoon.  It was a beautiful day for a drive, and since both winners were within miles of each other, we met up in Hope.  Julie came with sweet Molly, and Cheryl brought along her newest rescues, Baxter and Blue to accept on behalf of Shadow.  Molly is 7 months old and came into Julies life just at the right time, she’s her bundle of joy, full of energy, and she wouldn’t have it any other way.  Shadow, is a sweet kitty that Cheryl’s husband found, injured on the side of a road, they rescued her, took care of her medical needs, and although Shadow’s left leg had to be amputated, it hasn’t stopped her living the life all kitties deserve!

The original winner of the Kitty blanket was Theo, which has been donated back to In Memory of Maggie May. We have put all the kitty photo’s back in the draw box for another random draw……and the winner is SHADOW.   We were very excited for her, as was Shadow’s Mom.  Shadow is a very special kitty and a very special story to tell …. stay tuned!

CAN YOU GIVE COOPER A LOVING HOME?

MEET COOPER – affectionately called Mr. Super Duper Cooper!

With deep sadness, his owner is unable to provide Cooper the home that he deserves. He needs to find Cooper a new home, but it is very important that he finds the right family, on…e that Cooper will love, and one that will love Cooper right back. He says … “I will be very sad the day it happens but know it’s for his highest good”. Cooper is 5 years old and has an amazing personality. He is a happy go lucky dog that loves attention and people. He definitely has a stubborn streak….he is a pug! He loves food, he loves to give kisses, and he loves to be at ones ankles…..he is a pug! He is fully house and crate trained and knows a couple of basic commands. Cooper’s interactions with other dogs is good, maybe a bit timid at first, and he gets along with cats. His owner is in favour of a trial run just to make sure it’s the right fit for all involved. Cooper does have some additional medical needs that will need to continue to be addressed and has received amazing care at Healing Paws in Port Moody. He recommends that anyone thinking Cooper would be the right fit for them, that the family discuss Coopers needs with their veterinarian.

These blankets were ordered at last weeks Meet & Greet at Pet Food N More.  Vader, a 6 month old black lab was named after Darth Vader, but now has a white patch, so camouflage was his theme, Ronan liked the paw prints, and 7 lucky pups get to share their chocolate brown blanket.
