In Memory Of Maggie May

Our  Swim with your Dog Fundraiser was a huge success!  The event was hosted by Janet & Marlin & Hydro Paws on August 13th. The weather held out and the dogs and their loved ones enjoyed a fun filled swim, hot dogs and fantastic raffles. We cannot express our gratitude to Janet and Marlin, and for all the guests that donated generously to the Maggie May fund. We were truly overwhelmed.

We took a zillion photo’s which we have posted to our FACEBOOK Album, we are slowly getting through the 1000+ photo’s we took, so keep checking back to see more.  The fun was so much more than we expected. We had dogs that were already pro swimmers, eager and ready to go, a few senior pups and brand new swimmers that were nervous at first, but eventually relaxed and enjoyed the fun.  We hope you enjoy the photo’s and we thank you all for coming and supporting the Maggie May fund!

The heat and the smoke filled skies did not damper the event in anyway. A success all around for everyone … the competitors, the spectators, and especially the Maggie May fund.  We are very grateful to the agility organization for welcoming us once again. There was not much time for us to check out the action, but we certainly had a ton of visitors to our booth …. we think it was our cookies!

We would like to thank our raffle basket supporters: “Hydro Paws“, “Tender Heart Healing“, “Doubledog Stitches & Design“, “Good Dog Academy Inc“, “Pet Wonder“.  We hope you check them all out!  Congratulations to the winner of the amazing raffle basket, valued at over $400, Lynda Orton-Hill & her dog “Daring Greatly”.  They also qualified for the world championships and are on their way to Czechoslovakia this fall … Way to GO!!

We love being a part of these events on many levels.  Meeting new friends and seeing old friends, checking out the event when we can, handing out treats to our 4 legged visitors, but mostly we love nothing more than talking about our Maggie and what we are trying to accomplish in her name.

Companionship ….  “a feeling of fellowship or friendship”.

We have named this years anniversary quilt “COMPANIONSHIP”. Our pets enrich our lives in so many ways. They make us laugh and comfort us when we cry.  They move us to get out there and enjoy life. We can’t imagine our world without them.  They are companions, and so much more.  Count your blessings and make the most of each moment, for their time with us is far too short.  We are dedicating our quilt to the furry friends we have lost this year …. Josie, Joey, Kes, Ricochet, Rue & Rosie.  May you be at peace and know you are forever loved.

Our quilt includes the fabrics and names from our personalized blanket orders between May 1, 2016 to April 30, 2017.  This gives us time to design, create, and have it professionally quilted by Tammy of Sugar Town Quilting Co., in time for the reveal on September 12th.  We will once again raffle it off on our anniversary October 11th with all proceeds going to the Maggie May Fund.

We have 44 names this year, some with a couple of blankets, and 3 different Joey’s.

 Our wonderful amazing friends at Hydro Paws are hosting a fundraiser for In Memory of Maggie May.  We are so exicited!!

Swim with your companion in a fun, safe, supervised environment.  “Just you and your dog having a great time cooling off in the pool”. They are donating all proceeds directly to “In Memory of Maggie May”.  Pool will be open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm &  swims will be by donation. Hydro Paws is located in Maple Ridge and owned and operated by Janet & Marlin, two certified Hydrotherapists who have a passion for the physical, emotional and psychological well being of all animals. Hydro Paws offers a variety of therapeutic, conditioning and recreational hydrotherapy services for dogs.  Their canine hydrotherapy facilities include  a 12 x 24 ft heated indoor pool, underwater treadmill and specialized fitness equipment.

Hydro Paws not only provides loving and supportive care to their clients but also supporting organizations like ours. They donate monthly to the Maggie May fund, and are continuously promoting our cause.

Pet Food ‘N More have been in our corner for a few years now, they hold a fundraiser for In Memory of Maggie May every year, and we can’t thank them enough.  It is always a lot of fun, we meet wonderful kind people and amazing pups, even a kitty or two.  Raising funds is not an easy task, without supporters like Dylan and his team at Pet Food ‘N More we couldn’t keep doing what we are doing .. making a difference in a pets life, one at a time.
